about directing during MVSNL

For me, MVSNL has always been about getting the whole school involved in a production organized and directed by students. I love to see people show up unexpectedly to auditions, try new things in rehearsals and bond with brand new friends over such a unique and hilarious show. As a student director, I learned a lot about organization, communication and effective leadership, and I’m extremely proud of our work. I want to thank each person who participated in a new way for putting yourself out there, trying something different and contributing to the wonderful experience. (MVSNL Program Notes, October 2010).

About The Odyssey

Other actors worth a shout out include … junior Stella Ziegler (Circe, Phemios, Others) and her insane control and focus. (Monta Vista El Estoque)

About The Servant of Two Masters

“The Servant of Two Masters," written by Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni, is a comedy featuring Beatrice Rasponi (junior Stella Ziegler) who dresses up as her dead brother in order to get money and find her lover, Florindo Aretusi (senior Jarryd Alfaro). … When Rasponi and Aretusi finally find each other, they start singing "Don't Stop Believin'" by the Glee cast, with the clowns singing and dancing along.” (Monta Vista El Estoque)

About Just so stories

The play Just So Stories is a series of little tales which was entirely produced, designed and directed by the students of MV Theatre Arts. In one story I played a 1950's woman and in another I played a belligerent whale. I also helped design and build the set. ~Stella

About The crucible

As a sophomore I got the large role of Abigail Williams in my first ever production with MV Theatre Arts, and it was an incredible learning experience. I rehearsed almost exclusively with more experienced actors and worked closely with a professional acting coach. That show was the most professional and difficult production I had worked on up until that point. That role jump-started my acting career at Monta Vista, and I learned a ton about theatre and absolutely loved the experience. ~Stella
